Here at METS, we take our role of finding horses new homes very seriously. This week, we are highlighting two beautiful bay horses who are waiting for their forever homes. We need your help to place them! Read on to learn more, forward on to your friends, and apply here!

Take Me Downtown (Indie) is a beautiful 2004, registered Thoroughbred mare looking for her perfect companion home. Indie had 13 starts on the track before retiring in 2008 to a steeplechase and hunter/jumper barn, but an old pelvic injury makes her unsuitable for riding. She stands well for the farrier and vet, is good for catching, and doesn’t mind being led in from the field with other horses at the same time. She is UTD on vaccines, farrier, and dental work, and she comes with a Coggins. Check out our video of Indie — she is super sweet and loves some scratches on her itchy spot!

Isabelle (Izzy) is a 2004, 16.2h Tennessee Walking Horse mare. She has gone through multiple rounds of treatment for both EPM and Lyme, so she is looking for a retirement home where she can relax and recuperate as a companion horse. She’s excellent for the farrier (she’s barefoot), vet, and dentist. Izzy is not mare-ish, but she likes to be at the top of the herd in her current home. Check out our video of this sweet girl. We know there must be the perfect companion home out there for Izzy!

If you don’t have room for Izzy or Indie in your barn, please consider making a donation to help fund a safe rehoming process for horses like them. We are still working hard to raise our operating costs for next year and need your help to continue our valuable service for Maryland’s horses and horse owners.
