Outlaw, Cookie & Howie

Cookie has made it safe and sound
to her forever home!

The absolute BEST part about this is that the kind family that brought her home also agreed to take her bonded partner, Howie! These two have been loyal lesson horses for a local MD based farm for many many years. They have been loved by many and have taught many children what it means to fall in love with the sport of horses. These types of horses are worth their weight in gold! To be able to live out their Golden Years at a beautiful private retirement home is the biggest gift and thank you for their service they could receive.

On the flip side, their new owners are very grateful to have company for their other retired horse, Outlaw. He lost his companion just over a month ago and was having a tough time adjusting to the loss. They are thrilled to be able to provide him with a new and wonderful herd to be comforted by.

Here’s what Cookie and Howie’s original owners shared:

“Today two dear friends and colleagues reminded me that true love is doing what you must for the happiness of the other:
Two wonderful lesson horses that spent a lifetime teaching humans to ride and to be better, retired today, and while I couldn’t be happier for the rest and relaxation they will now get, I am also heartbroken to say goodbye.
Another lesson from today was gratitude, so thank you from the bottom of my heart to the wonderful family who took in this bonded couple of retired horses, and to the Maryland Equine Transition Service for helping us all connect in order to give these horses the proper thanks for a lifetime of service to humanity.”

Make sure to share with friends and family who METS is and what we do.

Khaleesi

Khaleesi is a 2002 Arabian X Mare. She has good height, good bone and is stockier than the typical Arabian horse.

Khaleesi is a lovebug who has the brightness and alertness of her breed, while remaining steadier in her disposition. Her current owner would love to see her forever home be somewhere that she can get out and thoroughly enjoy lots of trail riding.

This lovely girl is in great condition.
