If you’re looking for a training project, this one’s for you!

Twointhelowglow (nicknamed Lowglow) is a 2008, ~15.1h registered unraced Thoroughbred mare by Not For Loveseeking a home as a a restart training project or companion. Lowglow went to the track for training, but never raced. At 4 years old, she was purchased at a bankruptcy sale by her current owner and was as a proven broodmare until three years ago. Her owner has decided to switch her business focus and has rehomed all of her other horses. Lowglow is that last one patiently waiting for her new person to snatch her up, love her and help her reach her full potential.

Lowglow appears to be healthy and sound, and we see no reason why she couldn’t be trained in a variety of disciplines. The only thing known about her time at the track is that she never raced, but the extent of her training is unclear. Considering this and the fact that it’s been 10 years, we feel it would be best that she be considered a restart project for anyone looking to train her. This girl appears to have unlimited potential. Her solid build, conformation and movement may make her a great hunter/jumper prospect. An advanced rider with training experience, or an owner working with a professional trainer, could really help to bring out this beautiful mare along.

Despite being a bit nervous on the chilly, rainy day that we visited, Lowglow handled herself quite well when pulled out of her field to the barn. We observed her owner groom her and pick out all four hooves. She straight tied in a stall, but her owner said that she also cross-ties. After about 45 minutes in the barn, we observed her owner turn her back out. That’s where the fun began! All of the nervous energy she had been holding in (because she tried hard to be a good girl) came out as soon as she was unhooked from the lead rope. And boy, can that girl move! She showed off some super fun bucks and twists and turns, and was very sure-footed despite the wet, slick ground. Once out of her system, she settled down so that we could catch her again and give her a once-over. We verified that she does have a lip tattoo, but were unable to read it in its entirety.

Lowglow has always been barefoot and has never taken a lame step in the 10 years her owner has had her. She’s a fairly easy-keeper and is maintaining her current full figure on 2 scoops of Nutrena Triumph Senior and grass hay. Lowglow is updated on shots and deworming, and her owner is willing to pull a current Coggins on her before she leaves for her new home. She does have a silver dollar sized sarcoid on her throatlatch which doesn’t bother her or interfere, and her vet has advised to leave alone. She has been turned out with other mares and babies with no issue. Though she does tend to take the more dominant position in the herd, she is fair and respectful. Her owner is willing to send her home with various supplies for her care and upkeep if needed, included her halter, lead rope, blanket and grooming supplies.

This girl has tons of potential and we feel she would be a great, fun project for an experienced horse person. She’s a little hidden gem just waiting to be found! Let us know if you’d be interested by inquiring today!
