Rose is a beautiful 2004 quarter horse mare standing at 16.1h. This lovely chestnut girl has a sweet, easy-going disposition and would make someone a great flat only horse! She just has this steady calmness to her and doesn’t seem bothered by what chaos might be happening around her. Rose can easily be handled by a beginner but recommended for an intermediate rider. She is looking for a flat only home as someone’s trail partner, western pleasure mount or low-level dressage horse.
Rose has a background of mainly dressage and western pleasure. Her owner rode Rose while attending UMBC and on their equestrian team in western pleasure. Rose loved western pleasure riding and could jog all day long. After college, Rose was then moved to a barn where she was trained and competed up to first level dressage. Due to lack of time and finances, Rose has not been ridden in over a year from the date when we came out to do the assessment. She has been enjoying the life of a “pasture puff”. However, she has lots of potential left if someone can put the time, energy and maintenance into bringing her back along. Rose is very sweet and gentle! But as she gets tired and fatigue when ridden, she can get a little marish and sometimes a little hot. It is manageable, but she will need a rider who can keep calm while allowing Rose to figure it out and strengthen her endurance. Rose was receiving hock injections for arthritis. She was not x-rayed, but injections were being giving to her to keep her comfortable while in work. Her last hock injection was back in December of 2019. Rose could compete in low level dressage again but would need someone to put the time into bringing her back into shape and providing her anti-inflammatories and injections. Rose also enjoys trail riding!
Rose is currently turned in during the day and out at night. She is pastured with other mares but is not marish towards other horses and could go out with a mixed herd. She currently receives only 1/2qt of ration balancer twice a day, and nothing else. She is UTD on her shots and just had her coggins done. She wears front shoes and just had her feet done about 2 weeks ago. Rose is great for catching, leading, haltering, being stalled, bathing, picking her feet, cross ties, and being left alone in a field. Her only vice would be pawing…pawing for a treat that is! She loves her treats and will lift her leg up begging for you to give her a yummy treat!
