Dublin is a 2000, 16h Thoroughbred gelding seeking a new home due to life changes with his owner. He does have a lip tattoo, but we were unable to read enough of it to confirm his identity. Since leaving the track, Dublin has been used for English pleasure riding. Dublin is currently living with two other senior horses. He is the dominant herd member, but is fair and respectful when directing his herd mates. He is currently thriving with 24/7 turnout and blanketed over the winter months. He’s plump on grass and goes comfortably barefoot.
It has been a while since Dublin has been in regular work under saddle, so he will need someone to get him back to working order. His owner says that he could be good for an advanced beginner once in regular work, but at this time he’d probably be more suited to a strong intermediate or above rider, or someone working with a professional trainer. We did not get to observe Dublin being ridden, but did get to see him tacked up and lunged in both directions at the trot. He appeared to be sound, with a long, springy stride. He also came across as level-headed, responsive to his owner’s cues and maybe even a bit on the lazy side! We feel it wouldn’t take much to get him to a point where he could be enjoyed again under saddle. He truly has a lovely personality and really seems to enjoy being with people. You can tell he’s a smart boy and he still has plenty of miles left in his engine!
Dublin is UTD on deworming and farrier, but will need to be updated vaccinations and dental. His owner is willing to get an updated Coggins prior to him leaving for his new home. Dublin ties, bathes, loads, and is good for the vet and farrier. If you feel Dublin may be the right fit for you, let us know!
