Champion is a 1997, 15.2hh Standardbred gelding looking for a home as a companion or light riding horse. His previous owner confirmed that he was well-behaved on trails. He’s been out of work for some time now and is in the process of being evaluated to see what he can do under saddle. That being said, Champion would also be completely content as a pasture pal for a wide range of equines, big and small.
Champion is a super sweet and mellow boy. He’d be suitable for a beginner handler. He also gets along with both mares and geldings, and tends to be neutral in the herd. He’s up-to-date on everything. He’d make an excellent companion for a variety of living situations and would be an excellent horse for kids or less experienced horse people to love on.
Champion’s owner would prefer to keep him within a 60-mile radius of zip code 20659.
UPDATE July 2022: Champion has been evaluated under saddle and did very well. He was ridden at the walk/trot and accepted everything with ease. There seems to be no reason why this guy couldn’t be someone’s easy trail/pleasure horse for light riding. Check out this short video of his under saddle evaluation!
Southern Maryland Equine Miracles has stepped up to temporarily house and care for Champion while he’s between owners. Please consider giving him a forever home to live out his days!
