Additional Information

Billy is a ~20 year old, 15h Arab/Paint-X gelding seeking a home as a companion and/or light riding horse. Billy’s younger years actually took place in Florida. During his time down south, he didn’t have an easy life. He was hit by a car and has a good scar on his neck to prove it. He was also confiscated by the Vero Beach Humane Society, suffering from neglect and needing rehabilitation. Needless to say, Billy lead a rough life and was in desperate need of a soft landing. Luckily, his current owner decided he deserved a chance and brought him home to Maryland. Due to life changes, his owner is hoping to rehome him with someone who can continue to love and enjoy him.

Billy is suitable for an intermediate handler and rider. He loves attention, and has a very cute and interactive personality. His fun quirks, like playing with the halter as you try to put it on or rolling his tongue around in his mouth while being ridden, make it almost impossible not to smile! He does like to push buttons every now and then to see what he can get away with, so an intermediate handler who can establish and enforce clear boundaries is recommended. The same thing applies under saddle. Due to suspected arthritis, Billy is best suited for riding at the walk only. He does best in an arena, but could hit the trails with a rider with enough confidence to pass some on to him as well. Billy would be best suited for a rider not really looking to do much under saddle beyond simply enjoying their time in the saddle as they mosey on down the long side or trail.

This boy has a busy brain and truly likes to work. Considering this and his super fun demeanor, Billy could also be a great project for someone wanting to dabble more in ground work. His owner has actually done some basic liberty work with him and said he did very well.

Billy is UTD, barefoot, and lives out 24/7, although he does enjoy being in a stall. He has been turned out with geldings. He currently is the dominant horse in his herd of three, but has taken a more submissive role in the past when in a larger herd. He ties, bathes, loads, is good for shots, the farrier, and deworming. His owner is willing to rehome him with many of his things, including his sheet, blanket, bridle and saddle. This guy is truly a joy to be around and would make someone an awesome companion or light riding horse. Not to mention, two baby blue eyes! Let us know if you’re interested!
