The Maryland Equine Transition Service helps horses find homes and works with owners to ensure that their horses have as many transition options as possible.
Horses in need of transition come in every shape, size, breed, color, age, training level, and temperament. The program is unique because it works with a wide network of industry organizations, professionals, and private owners to source the best options – from retraining to retirement – for these horses because no horse in Maryland should ever be at risk of entering the slaughter pipeline.
Why support the mets program?
Because ALL Maryland horses deserve safe transition options.
The Maryland Equine Transition Service was started with generous seed funds from WaterShed Animal Fund’s Right Horse Initiative. Each year, METS must raise a significant portion of the annual budget through fundraising, sponsorships, and private donations in order to receive additional grant funding. The overall goal is to build a program that is sustainable and will provide transition services for owners and horses in Maryland for many years to come. We appreciate your support!
